Inaugural and current West Coast Eagles captain Emma Swanson will play her 50th club game this Saturday against the Fremantle Dockers in the RAC Derby at Leederville Oval.
Swanson becomes just the second Eagles to reach this impressive milestone, behind Belinda Smith who played her 50th Eagles game earlier in the season.
Arriving at the Eagles ahead of the 2020 season, Swanson was named captain of the inaugural Eagles side and has continued to be voted into the top leadership role by her teammates every season since.
The star midfielder-turned-defender has been a constant pillar of leadership, experience and stability for a young and developing Eagles side, her character and work ethic a true inspiration for her teammates.
Swanson continues to excel in her roles both on and off the field, recognised for her talent with back-to-back Club Champion honours in season six and season seven, and was also awarded the Trademark Player of the Year in season six.
In her 49 Eagles games to date, Swanson has amassed 954 disposals, 169 marks, 235 tackles, 15,086 metres gained and 3,910 Fantasy Points, a club-high across all stats.
“It’s an honour to play in 50 games for such a special footy club,” Swanson said.
“I’ve had some great teammates along the way, and it’s sort of forced reflection, looking back on the journey that we’ve had over the past six years, and I’m just super honoured.”
Swanson and the team take the Fremantle Dockers in the seventh RAC Derby on Saturday, bouncedown at 4:05pm at Leederville Oval.
