The West Coast Eagles will have five AFLW debutants and two club debutants in Friday night’s round one clash with Richmond at Mineral Resources Park.

Jess Rentsch, Georgie Cleaver, Sanne Bakker, Tess Lyons and Verity Simmons will all make their league debuts for West Coast, the talented group boasting a mix of both youth and experience.

Recruits Jess Hosking and Alison Drennan will don the blue and gold for the first time, both having over 50 games of AFLW experience under their belts.

Sasha Goranova will make her eagerly-awaited return, after successfully completing rehabilitation for an ACL injury sustained in round six of the 2023 season.

Following an outstanding performance in the pre-season clash with St Kilda, Beth Schilling has been named in the backline for the Eagles, a pleasing addition after her interrupted 2023 season through injury.

Unfortunately, captain Emma Swanson has been ruled out of round one with groin soreness, while Roxy Roux will also be sidelined this week with a hand injury.

Bouncedown for Friday’s season-opener is set for 7:15pm, with the Eagles kicking off their campaign in front of their home crowd at Mineral Resources Park. Tickets available here.
