New recruit Octavia Di Donato has experienced a minor setback ahead of the West Coast Eagles’ 2024 AFLW campaign, managing a quad strain this week.
“Octavia has a small quad strain that she’s working through,” AFLW Head of High Performance Wes Salisbury said.
“She will look to increase running loads and training in the coming week.”
Courtney Rowley is progressing well from an ACL injury sustained late last year, while Annabel Johnson, Matilda Sergeant and Kayley Kavanagh have returned to running following ACL injuries suffered in the pre-season.
AFLW Injury Update - Week 1
AFLW Head of Strength and Conditioning Wes Salisbury provides an update on West Coast's injured players ahead of their upcoming round 1 match against Richmond
“After surgery in December for an ACL injury, Courtney Rowley, she’s resumed some team training,” Salisbury said.
“She will be looking to progress both intensity and skill acquisition.
“With Annabel, ‘Tildi’ and Kayley, they have all made a successful return to run, post-surgery, and are looking to build volumes.”
Small forward Emily Elkington and defender Sophie McDonald are currently working through concussion protocols.
