The West Coast Eagles would like to acknowledge the contribution of Wayne Martin as Chair of the Western Australian Football Commission for the last four years.
Eagles Chair Paul Fitzpatrick said Mr Martin AC KC had made a significant and highly-valued contribution in his time at the WAFC.
“Wayne held office at a particularly challenging time for our club and more broadly for the game in this State,” Mr Fitzpatrick said.
“He assumed the role of Chair at the time Covid hit the world and that provided some unique challenges, not just for the community but for our sport at all levels.
“His capacity to steer the game in WA through that unprecedented period offered important reassurances for all of football’s stakeholders.
“Wayne has understood the significant challenges for our club at AFL, AFLW and WAFL levels and has always been available for us when we have sought his counsel.
"Importantly, he has also understood the difficulties for our club in being competitive in the WAFL competition and the importance of assisting us to remedy that situation.”
