The WAFL Eagles gave it a red hock crack against Subiaco on Saturday, but unfortunately fell by 19 points at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.

Senior coach Kyal Horsley said the Lions capitalised when it mattered most.

This game feels like the one that got away,” Horsley said.

“We showed for long periods that our best was more than capable, but unfortunately for us, when we drifted in the game, Subiaco were able to capitalise and put on scoreboard pressure.

“To our players credit, we never stopped trying to the win the game and made multiple surges in the last quarter.”

Top Performers

Tyrell Dewar

Tyrell was a standout on the day, his ability to work at high speeds and link the ground up both defensively and offensively was a real weapon for the team.

Dom Sheed

Second game back from injury for Dom and he put forward another standout performance.

Coen Livingstone

One of our best on the day. With Matt Flynn in the team, Coen played mainly as a forward and showed his growth with his developing forward craft. He kicked three good goals, all in different fashion including on the run, following a strong contested mark and marking while sprinting back to goals.

AFL Listed Players:

Andrew Gaff

Continued his good form after missing a week through injury, he worked tirelessly for the team all game.

Campbell Chesser
Developing his inside midfield craft and showed his toughness with six clearances.

Archer Reid

Competed hard all game and took some big, contested marks which resulted in two goals.

Clay Hall

Played mostly on the wing and played his role well, he ran extremely hard and got two shots at goal which is a real weapon of his.

Matthew Flynn

It was great to see Matt back playing footy, he looked like he hadn’t missed a beat and continually gave our mids first use and had a real presence around the ground.

Harry Barnett

Played majority of the game as a forward and continually created a contest for the team in the front half, and got his reward with a nice goal.

Jamaine Jones

One of our best on the day, he played the game with high intensity and intent in everything he did.

Rhett Bazzo

It was also Rhett’s second game back from injury from a long layoff, and you can really see his growth with his defensive craft and communication to others. Credit to him with all the work he put in while being in rehab.

Loch Rawlinson

Built his game off his defensive running for the team which put him in good spots to receive the ball when we created a turnover. This showed up with nine uncontested marks and his defensive work was recognised by his teammates as he received their Trademark Player of the Game.

Jordyn Baker

Played on multiple opponents and kept them out of the game while providing good drive for us when we had the ball.
