Brendon Daily will transition from his previous role in Newman to the newly formed position of Regional North Lead/Mid-West Youth Engagement Officer, with Daily based in Geraldton.

The expansion into the mid-west adds to the five other regional areas the Club has permanent full-time Community and Game Development staff: the South West, Great Southern, Pilbara, Wheatbelt and Goldfields.

The Club has a rich history with the mid-west with 1,067 members based in Geraldton as well as players both past and present being from the region.

Daily highlighted the growth opportunities ahead for the Club by permanently entering a new region.

“I think it’s an exciting opportunity for the West Coast Eagles as we have a very strong presence regionally across the state but one of the key areas we haven’t been in until now is Geraldton. The size and opportunities in the mid-west really gives us a great opportunity to grow our club presence within Geraldton and the surrounding areas and work with our strong membership base within the mid-west,” Daily said.

“There’s quite a large collection of both primary and secondary schools in Geraldton so providing our programs within that education space is a massive growth opportunity in the region.

“In addition to the strong focus on education, there’s going to be continued focus on stakeholder engagement and community involvement. The ability to be able to get involved with the City of Greater Geraldton, SHINE, PCYC, Geraldton Sporting Aboriginal Corporation and other key organisations in the mid-west provides a great opportunity for the Club.”

The West Coast Eagles will be based in the same office space as the Josh Kennedy Foundation, with plans for collaborative and strategic initiatives in the region being put in place already.

“It’ll be great working alongside the Josh Kennedy Foundation which is based in Geraldton and with JK being a former player we’ll look for opportunities to collaborate with them to achieve some positive outcomes in the region,” Daily said.

The West Coast Eagles are committed to the sustainable development of Australian football at a grassroots level and will continue to ensure the game is inclusive and accessible to people across the state.
