Speedy forward Loch Rawlinson will make his AFL debut in his home state after being called up alongside defender Josh Rotham for West Coast’s Gather Round clash against Sydney in the Adelaide Hills on Saturday.

Taken with pick No.1 in last year’s rookie draft, Rawlinson has been rewarded for an impressive start to his journey in the west.

The 18-year-old featured in both pre-season clashes, showing tenacity with his tackling pressure, and will replace Tyler Brockman (concussion) after kicking three goals from 14 disposals in the WAFL Eagles' season-opener.

Originally from SANFL club Sturt, Rawlinson will be the second member of the Eagles’ 2023 draft class to debut, following in the footsteps of No.1 overall pick Harley Reid.

Rotham will play his first AFL match of the season and provide more aerial support and versatility following the Eagles' 76-point defeat to the Dogs.

Jamaine Jones has made way and is an emergency alongside Andrew Gaff and Tyrell Dewar.

The Eagles and Swans will vie for the HMAS Sydney II Trophy, awarded to the winning team in clashes between the clubs since 2010.

The player adjudged best afield will receive the perpetual Gun Shell Trophy as well as a pure silver HMAS Sydney II commemorative coin, crafted by the Perth Mint.

Bouncedown for Saturday’s clash in Mt Barker is at 1pm local time (10.30am WST). The match will be broadcast live on Channel 7 in WA, Fox Footy and streamed on Kayo.

West Coast will wear the club's retro 1995 replica guernsey for the Gather Round contest.
