The West Coast Eagles will have an eye on the four precious premiership points on offer at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, but they will also continue their strategic build.

When the Eagles finalised their team for their round one clash against Port Adelaide they revealed a well-balanced line-up boasting exciting young talent as well as some established, experienced stars.

The Power is a highly credentialed outfit, but the Eagles are up for the challenge and around the seven players in this team aged 22 or under are club greats like Elliot Yeo (two-time Club Champion and all-Australian), Tim Kelly (the 2023 John Worsfold medallist), Jeremy McGovern, Tom Barrass, Jack Darling and Andrew Gaff.

McGovern, a four-time all-Australian, Darling, one of only three players in club history to kick 500 goals (510), and Barrass all played in the 2018 premiership.

Their presence around their young peers should have a settling effect as Luke Edwards (22), Tyler Brockman (21), Brady Hough (21), Campbell Chesser (20), Reuben Ginbey (19), Noah Long (19) and Harley Reid (18) continue to build their careers.

Travelling as the emergency is 20-year-old Naitanui Academy product Tyrell Dewar.

When the match committee finalised the line up the five players listed on the interchange bench were Ginbey, Brockman, Edwards, Chesser and tall utility player Callum Jamieson.

Rebounding defender Jamaine Jones and emerging forward Ryan Maric did not make the trip.

One of the five players listed on the bench will be the emergency.
