The West Coast Eagles have secured highly-regarded Richmond National Recruiting Manager Matthew Clarke as the club's new List Manager.
Clarke, who boasts 25 years of experience in the recruiting field, replaces long-serving Eagles Recruiting and List Manager Rohan O’Brien, who resigned after last year’s draft.
“We are delighted to announce Matt as our List Manager after an extensive process,” General Manager Football Gavin Bell said.
“While there was a strong field of candidates Matt stood out as the best fit for our club and we are thrilled to have him on board.
"He has a broad skill set and has demonstrated his ability to lead a team of recruiters at Richmond, and he possesses the strategic insights we need as we continue to build our list."
Clarke was a key figure in piecing together the list that saw Richmond win premierships in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
He began his journey in talent identification as a recruiting officer and forward scout for Melbourne in 1997, continuing in that capacity until 2009.
He then joined the Richmond recruiting team and was elevated to the role of the Tigers’ National Recruiting Manager in 2016.
Clarke, who will remain based in Victoria at West Coast's Docklands office, said he was looking forward to playing his role in the club’s rise up the ladder.
"I am excited by the opportunity to help shape the squad that can see the Eagles climb up the ladder," Clarke said.
"I have good relationships with a number of the West Coast recruiting staff and I look forward to working closely with them.
"I can’t wait to get started, but at the same time I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity and the memories that Richmond provided. They were very supportive through this process and I cannot thank them enough.
"Over the years I have forged some lifelong friendships and I have the utmost respect for Richmond and the people there."
