Solaris play an important role within the community offering support, guidance and education to people suffering from cancer and their primary carers, but more specifically have assisted family members of Eagles staff.
The afternoon was hosted by the Community and Game Development team as a token of gratitude for all the work Solaris has done, with participants being part of varying activities before receiving a visit from AFLW players after training.
Community and Game Development General Manager Richard O’Connell praised how important Solaris organisations have been for the Eagles family and said the afternoon was a thank you to them.
“The West Coast Eagles have a long history of supporting cancer related causes, reaching back to the long-standing Dig Deep campaign which commenced in 2009 and with the support of our fans helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars,” he said.
“Recently several of the West Coast Eagles staff and their families have been challenged by cancer. Solaris Cancer Care have played an important role in the lives of these members of the Eagles family. As a token of our sincere appreciation, we opened the doors of Mineral Resources Park to show our thanks.
“The West Coast Eagles staff and AFLW players involved in the visit were extremely grateful to be able to give back to these organisations who do so much for the WA community.”
Solaris Cancer Care Co-CEO and Corporate Services Manager Michelle Hilder acknowledged the success of the day and the opportunity for Solaris staff and participants to engage with the Club.
“It was a fantastic afternoon and I know that our clients, volunteers and their families really enjoyed their day and felt so special to have received this one-on-one behind-the-scenes experience,” she said.
“Money can’t buy what they received yesterday, and we are truly grateful to the West Coast Eagles for embracing Solaris and providing this support.
“On behalf of Solaris, our clients and volunteers I would like to say a huge thank you to the West Coast Eagles for providing us with such a special day.”
