Retiring greats Luke Shuey and Shannon Hurn are set to take their places for a huge farewell game against Adelaide at Optus Stadium on Saturday night.

While the other member of the retiring trio, superstar ruck Nic Naitanui, will be watching from the sidelines, both the current skipper Shuey (hamstring) and 2018 premiership captain Hurn (Achilles) trained on Tuesday and are ready to return.

“Both Luke and Shannon got through their training session today so we’ll let them freshen up and be available for this weekend,” Head of Health Mark Finucane told westcoasteagles.com.au.

“Looking forward to sending those two champions of the club out.”

Vice-captain Jeremy McGovern injured his ankle during the stirring upset win over the Western Bulldogs on Sunday and is racing the clock to recover in time to be part of the send-off match.

“Jeremy rolled his ankle early in the game and had some treatment in the game to see it out,” Finucane said.

“Subsequently, playing on that injury for over a half of football it has swollen, so we just need to manage that swelling. The scan was a really good sign that there’s not too much structural damage.

“We just need to get that swelling down and we’ll leave that as late as possible, so he’ll be a test late in the week.”

Unfortunately, Elliot Yeo won’t be available, with the two-time John Worsfold medallist accepting a one-match rough conduct suspension and injuring his hamstring at Marvel Stadium.

“Elliot has had a minor hamstring strain late in the game against the Bulldogs so will be unavailable for this weekend,” Finucane said.

Emerging youngster Brady Hough missed the trip to Melbourne due to illness but should be available to take on the Crows in the season-finale.

“Brady has had two separate illnesses but back-to-back weekends, which he has now recovered from, and just needs to get through a week of training and he’ll be available to play,” Finucane said.
