The West Coast Eagles have been dealt an unexpected blow ahead of the 2023 NAB AFLW season, with dependable forward Krstel Petrevski placed on the inactive list after suffering an ankle injury during match simulation training.

Petrevski sustained a right ankle syndesmosis injury which has required surgical repair, ruling her out for the season and has subsequently seen her placed on the inactive list for the 2023 NAB AFLW season.

Joining the Eagles in 2022, the West Australian played six games in season seven and has been an enthusiastic and lively inclusion for her teammates and the club, both on and off the field.

West Coast’s Head of Women’s Football Michelle Cowan said the loss of Petrevski will have a big impact on the team.

“Krstel has had a really strong pre-season and we saw her take her game to a new level, it’s really unfortunate for her to sustain this injury,” Cowan said.

“We’ll continue to support Krstel through her rehabilitation and she continues to play such a pivotal role for our team and the broader club, her passion and energy is contagious.

“I know everyone will wrap their arms around her and we can’t wait to have her back around the club.”

The Eagles take on Fremantle Dockers in round one, with the season kicking off on Sunday, September 3 at Fremantle Park.
