Home turf will hopefully provide a helpful advantage this weekend when West Coast take on North Melbourne at Optus Stadium on Sunday.
The Eagles will be looking to produce a more convincing display after falling to Carlton by 71 points at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.
Emerging midfielder Campbell Chesser said securing a win in front of the Eagles faithful at home, who have remained loyal throughout a tough season, would mean a lot to the team.
“We go into every game feeling confident and wanting to win,” Chesser said.
“We enjoy playing at home in front of our home fans, the fans have been really loyal to us this year, despite some of our performances, so we’re looking forward to getting out there.”
With an influx of youth into the side this season, Chesser said the younger talent will continue to provide a boost of energy to the group.
“We’ll attack the game this week as we have every other game,” Chesser said.
“When we reflect on our preparation for every game, it’s pretty similar and we all feel really good going into the game, so I think our leaders are really going to drive that and us younger guys are going to bring the energy this week.
“It’s a game we see that we can win, regardless of where both sides are on the ladder, it’s just another game of footy which is exciting for everyone.”
Despite an interrupted season due to a knee injury sustained in round three, 20-year-old Chesser said coming back through the WAFL helped him gain confidence before returning to AFL level.
“It’s been nice to be out there consistently at the moment,” Chesser said.
“I had a couple of games at the start of the year and then an interruption with my knee, so it was good to get back through the WAFL and have a couple of weeks there and gain some confidence.
“It’s nice to be playing AFL at the moment, we’ve got a lot of younger guys in the team which is fun and it’s a good opportunity for all of us.”
After returning to the senior squad in round 13 against Adelaide, Chesser has played every game since and said he is progressing in a positive direction.
“My body is feeling great at the moment, my running data and everything like that is coming back really positive, and I’m starting to string some good continuity together,” Chesser said.
“I’m feeling confident in my body and hopefully I can continue that over the next five weeks and have a really strong off season and preseason for next year.”
