Current captain Luke Shuey and former skipper Shannon Hurn headline the inclusions for the West Coast Eagles as they set themselves for Sunday’s challenge against Richmond at Optus Stadium.

Both were absent against Brisbane last week because they were too sore for the trip on a short turn around having led from the front against St Kilda just four days before the squad headed off on the longest trip in the game.

Shuey and Hurn, among the best in the eight-point loss to the Saints, have trained impressively this week and will be keen to lead the charge against a Richmond combination with finals in their sights.

Also coming into the squad comprising a starting 18 and a further eight players on the interchange bench are utility player Samo Petrevski-Seton and young midfielder Luke Edwards.

The only player left out of the team that was overwhelmed by the Lions is another developing midfielder, Xavier O’Neill.

Petrevski-Seton and Edwards are on the bench with veteran Andrew Gaff, youngsters Elijah Hewett, Ryan Maric and Rhett Bazzo, as well as utility player Jack Petruccelle and defender Alex Witherden.

A decision on the final composition of the team will be made tomorrow afternoon when the line-up will be refined to 18, four on the interchange bench and four emergencies.
