Joined by AFL young-guns Jack Williams and Coby Burgiel, West Coast Eagles Rising Stars members enjoyed an exclusive tour of Optus Stadium during the school holidays.
Held exclusively for Rising Stars members – that is, West Coast Eagles members aged between 12-17 years – the tour was an opportunity for the group of young fans to go behind the scenes at the club’s home ground.
The tour began with the guides providing some background on Optus Stadium, before the members split into two groups to take a look around the venue, each group accompanied by one of the players.
The Rising Stars witnessed some of the best views of the venue, the Swan River and the city from up on level 5, as well as visiting areas that are usually off-limits, including the media centre and coaches boxes.
A highlight was undoubtedly stepping into the West Coast Eagles facility deep under the stands, where the members wandered through the warm-up room and visited the locker room.
As they imagined what it would be like to be an AFL player, many of the Rising Stars had questions for Williams and Burgiel about a day-in-the-life of them and their teammates.
The junior members also had the chance to step out onto the field of play, entering through the same doors that their favourite players run through on a match day.
Rising Stars memberships are still available for the 2023 season. Learn more here, or contact the Membership Services Centre on (08) 9388 4566.
