Waterman, playing as the second ruck as well as his traditional role in the forward line, kicked four goals in an outstanding display as he also took a team-high five marks inside 50. 4. The inclusion of Petrevski-Seton also allowed Jamaine Jones to swing back into defence where his rebound football was important. Jones had 27 possessions, drove the ball inside 50 on 11 occasions and gained a mammoth 776 metres through his disposals. Just as importantly he had 14 handball receives, indicative of his willingness to from run behind and offer an option to teammates as the Eagles looked to enter the attacking zone.

5. The mid-sized and small forwards for the Eagles enjoyed a profound impact in the game, especially in the sizzling second term when they rattled on eight goals. Veteran Jamie Cripps was damaging with three goals alongside Waterman, while rookie Noah Long demonstrated his football smarts and Liam Ryan showed his class. Ryan had 17 possessions and six marks that resulted in 11 score involvements and an impressive 14 pressure acts, just one behind Cripps’ team-high tally of 15.
