The strong and powerful midfielder gained plenty of experience playing against men in 2022 after managing nine League appearances for Swan Districts, where he averaged 13.6 disposals, three marks and two tackles per game. The 18-year-old’s best is outstanding and his 31-disposal, six-tackle and one-goal effort against eventual Grand finalist Claremont in round 15 would have turned recruiters’ heads. Hewett, a former baseballer, also lit up Ikon Park in WA’s opening game of the national championships when he dominated Vic Metro with 29 touches, 11 inside 50s and two majors. Hewett further showcased his credentials by testing strongly at the NAB AFL Draft Combine, finishing third overall in the agility test and equal fourth with Reuben Ginbey in the vertical jump.
