The powerful Dunsborough product enjoyed a brilliant 2022 to rise into top-10 national draft calculations. Ginbey started the season as a rebounding third tall defender in the Royals’ senior team before showing his versatility to become a big-bodied onballer as the year progressed. Ginbey was WA’s MVP at the under-18 national championships, averaging 21 disposals, 10 contested possessions, four tackles and three clearances across the three matches to earn All-Australian honours. The Wesley College captain’s breakout season made him hot property and he capped it off by dominating the NAB AFL Draft Combine, showing his aerobic ability by running a blistering 6:15 in the 2km time trial (top five) and 2.92-second 20-metre sprint (top 10).
