Hello fans, welcome back for another week of footy-blog fun!
Let’s recap last week’s match shall we - I’m not going to lie guys, my whole world came tumbling down when I heard the news that Nic Naitanui was a late withdrawal. What is going on? Did we break a hundred mirrors whilst walking under several ladders? I thought West Coast must have done something to tick off the footy gods, because this sort of luck just isn’t fair.
But then after I finished having my tantrum, my good pal John Worsfold said to me, Rick settle down, we are a team and we will lift. He is an inspiring man, ol’ Woosh. And as upset as I was, I believed him and knew we would lift. Shannon Noll style.
And what do you know, the boss was right again. We toppled the Kangas in spectacular style, well done boys. But of course, it wouldn’t be a West Coast game without another injury being added to the mix. Poor Adam Selwood ripping the webbing in his hand. And then Ashton Hams, in great form and right on the brink of becoming a regular fixture in the team, goes and gets suspended. Great result, just what we need, another forward out of the mix! This club should definitely have its own reality show, because at the moment, we have more drama than the Kardashian household.
But I’m not dwelling on negatives guys, you know me, I’m a positive bird. So let’s look ahead - we’ve got another small forward, Ryan Neates, coming in to replace Hamsy. This guy is teeny-tiny just like Hamsy, so he’ll be a good fit. And we’ve got experienced defender Mitch Brown coming back in to the squad after his brief stint on the sideline with an eye injury.
Essendon are in good form, they’re playing at home, and evidently haven’t had any bad encounters with mirrors or ladders, because they aren’t riddled with injuries. So the footy world is tipping against West Coast for the first time this season. But what do they know? Our boys are inspired, and have got a point to prove that we are still a good side minus a few key players. And with this game being Beau Waters’ 100th, our boys will want to make it one to remember for their tough vice-captain.
So footy world, go ahead and tell us what you like! Tell us that we can’t win this weekend. Tell us we have too many injuries. Because it’s just going to push us harder to prove you all wrong.
Go Eagles!
