Newman hosted 17 Martu boys from communities across the Western Desert on the 6th of October, for the inaugural East Pilbara Junior Football Carnival
Junior footballers from across the East Pilbara region had the opportunity to showcase their talent within a structured football match environment.
The Ngurra Kujungka team started their journey on Wednesday, travelling in two separate cars with players from Punmu and Kunawarritji in the East to Warralong in Pilbara’s Northwest before meeting more players in Marble Bar from Nullagine and Jigalong.
Great sportsmanship was shown by both teams during the main game in the morning, followed by the all-stars match in the afternoon with staff and parents joining in.
The successful day gave everyone a taste for what hopes to become a regular fixture on the junior football calendar with involvement from surrounding towns in the East Pilbara region.
The club would like to thank Ngurra Kujungka, Newman Junior Football Council and volunteers for their help on the day.
