Young ruckman Callum Jamieson and midfielder Xavier O’Neill – arguably the best two players for the WAFL Eagles last week – have been called back into AFL action on Sunday.
Jamieson had 21 possessions and worked hard around the ground, while O’Neill also racked up 25 touches during a solid performance in atrocious conditions.
They are among five changes made for the clash against Hawthorn at the MCG with defender Alex Witherden, forward Jamie Cripps and debutant Jai Culley confirmed inclusions.
It was disclosed 24 hours ago that champion ruckman Nic Naitanui would miss with knee soreness and that Willie Rioli (personal reasons) and Jack Petruccelle (hamstring) would also be absent.
Joining them as exclusions are midfielders Greg Clark and Zane Trew as well as swingman Samo Petrevski-Seton.
Clark was the medical substitution last week and will return to the WAFL for the clash with East Fremantle where he will get a full hit-out. He played just a quarter against Carlton last Sunday.
Clark, Trew, Petrevkski-Seton and defender Jackson Nelson have been named as emergencies.
