Every available player on the West Coast Eagles list will have played by the end of Sunday’s game against Hawthorn at the MCG.

When the match committee nominated mid-season draft selection Jai Culley to play at half-forward against the Hawks it enabled a unique situation where every fit player on the club’s list will have represented West Coast in 2022.

In fact, every available player and some. The club also called on five Covid Contingency List players during this tumultuous season.

Culley will become the 16th player to represent the club for the first time and the 47th player to wear blue and gold in 2022 after joining the Eagles only a month ago.

While that news is uplifting, the club also confirmed that ruckman Nic Naitanui (knee soreness), Willie Rioli (personal) and Jack Petruccelle (hamstring) would not be making the trip east for this round 18 battle.

Naitanui has been sore since Sunday’s loss to Carlton while Petruccelle was subbed out of the game against the Blues at three-quarter time.

Sadly, Rioli returned to Tiwi Islands yesterday to be with his family after the sudden death of his father, Willie Sr, from a heart attack.

Also named in an extended squad are experienced forward Jamie Cripps, defenders Alex Witherden and Jackson Nelson, young ruckman Callum Jamieson and midfielder Xavier O’Neill.

Cripps was a late withdrawal last week after entering AFL Health and Safety protocols while Witherden, O’Neill and Jackson all pushed their case for promotion through solid contributions for the WAFL Eagles.
