Premiership defender Liam Duggan will make an immediate return to West Coast’s senior side while five new Eagles will debut amid mass changes for the round two clash with North Melbourne.

Duggan will play his first game since undergoing knee surgery last year, with developing big man Callum Jamieson and raw key forward Jack Williams – the 57th pick from last year’s draft – named to play their first games.

Four COVID Contingency List players have also been called up – including a familiar face in Brayden Ainsworth, who will help the team in its hour of need after playing 13 games previously in blue and gold.

The others are West Perth star Aaron Black, former Dockers hard-runner Stefan Giro and ex-Hawthorn defender Angus Dewar (both now at Subiaco).

A total of 12 players are missing from the already undermanned Eagles’ round one squad which took it up to Gold Coast, with 11 of those absent through the AFL’s Health and Safety Protocols.

Those players are headlined by reigning two-time club champion Nic Naitanui, while Harry Edwards, Josh Rotham, Hugh Dixon, Jamaine Jones, Brady Hough and Jake Waterman are also forced out, in addition to five players who had already entered the protocols.

Gut-running wingman Andrew Gaff (foot) is also out of the side due to injury.

Emerging onballer Luke Edwards, back from a tough pre-season battling groin soreness, Claremont midfielder Declan Mountford, Chad Pearson (South Fremantle) and Angus Schumacher (East Perth) have been named emergencies.

One of that quartet to be named medical sub on Sunday ahead of the 1.10pm (AEDT) bouncedown at Marvel Stadium.
