West Coast has received positive scan results on Sam Petrevski-Seton’s knee and the mid-forward recruit is hoping to be available for next Sunday’s AAMI Community Series match.
Petrevski-Seton copped a blow in a marking contest during last Friday’s intraclub and sat out the majority of the contest with ice on his knee, but was back jogging laps on Monday in a positive sign.
“So Sam got a knee knock in the intraclub and we’re just letting that settle down this week,” Head of Health Mark Finucane told westcoasteagles.com.au.
“He’s got a bone bruise and we anticipate he’ll be right for next weekend’s game against Freo.”
Unfortunately, mature-age draftee Greg Clark also went down during the intraclub with a shoulder injury that will sideline him for the early stages of the 2022 campaign.
“Greg got a bump in the intraclub and he’s got a decent AC (joint) injury that will require surgery and he’ll miss the early part of the season,” Finucane said.
In other news, hard-working forward Jamie Cripps underwent a successful operation on his torn pectoral and will map out his rehabilitation program after seeing his surgeon later this week.
Skipper Luke Shuey (hamstring), defender Liam Duggan (knee) and emerging forward Oscar Allen (foot) are also on the comeback trail.
Duggan has been integrating back into skills work in recent training sessions following his PCL operation late last year.
“Luke and Liam are building nicely and building big individual sessions within the week, and then we’ll integrate them more and more footy stuff into those sessions,” Finucane said.
“Oscar’s got another week or so in the (moon) boot and then we’ll assess that and then start his build from there.”
Meanwhile, there was good news for second-year midfielder Luke Edwards this week as he re-joined the main group for some drills after overcoming some groin soreness this pre-season.
