General Manager of Community and Game Development, Richard O’Connell, is pleased to announce this next phase of AFLW growth in the Eagles’ system.
“We are really pleased to have 25 female athletes already focused and preparing to write the next chapter in our journey,” he said.
“We recognise many have made significant sacrifices to pursue their AFLW dream, balancing employment, study and family responsibilities to take the field of play.
“Jordan Loxley, our List Manager did a terrific job so far to bring in two experienced players in Aimee Schmidt and Evie Gooch, and we thank both players for having confidence in the vision we are driven to achieve.
“Entering the upcoming draft with five selections is really exciting as athletes across the WAFLW, SANFLW, TWL and VFLW have been demonstrating the exponential growth in women's football across the nation.”
The NAB AFLW Draft Nomination period will open on Monday, June 21 and close on Friday, July 9.
The 2021 NAB AFL Women’s Draft will take place at 6.45pm AEST on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
