West Coast’s blockbuster round 14 showdown against reigning premier Richmond has been locked in for a primetime Thursday night slot.
In what will be the first meeting between the two most recent flag-winning teams at Optus Stadium since 2018, the League has scheduled a weeknight clash at WA football’s glittering venue to be broadcast nationally.
Both clubs will be coming off the round 13 bye heading into the contest, ensuring they will be fresh for an intense battle at 6.10pm on June 17.
The Eagles outhunted the Tigers by 47 points in their only meeting at Optus in round nine, 2018 with Jack Darling playing the best game of his career with six goals, six contested marks and 21 disposals.
Richmond has won the other three encounters since 2017, including 11 and six-point triumphs at the MCG, and a 27-point victory at Metricon Stadium on a Thursday night last year.
West Coast will enjoy the rare event of two home matches in a row in round 15 when the red-hot Western Bulldogs come to town for a 1.20pm clash on Sunday, June 27.
The Dogs overran the Eagles in round two at Marvel Stadium in what remains arguably the game of the season - a seven-point thriller under the roof.
