Mikayla Bowen and Isabella Lewis are both 2021 Rising Star nominees, pacey midfielders and best mates.
Now, they share another accolade together – being named in the 22under22 squad.
The young guns bring a unique style of play to the Eagles’ engine room, strongly exhibited after the loss of captain Emma Swanson, Irish superboot Aisling McCarthy and experienced Dana Hooker.
Bowen kicked five goals across nine games, as well as averaging 16.6 disposals and 224.5 metres gained.
Meanwhile, Lewis averaged 4.6 tackles, 6.2 contested possessions and 205.4 metres gained in her first season as an AFLW footballer.
"It's really good news, great reward for effort, they both worked really hard on their games, especially in the last 12 months," Eagles AFLW coach Daniel Pratt told westcoasteagles.com.au.
"We're really happy to have them, Bella's ability to get to get from inside the contest to out, has probably really surprised a lot of people, particularly at our club.
"But it probably hasn't surprised her. She's going to be a really good player at the club for a long time, winning her own ball but also getting on the outside.
"And Bowen, her ability to really break the game and break the lines open particularly on the outside has been really good for us.
"Both of them are in positive mindsets to keep developing, they've both come to me at the end of the season to ask what they can do to take their game to the next level, and as a coach you can't ask for anything more."
