West Coast will be out to prove their finals credentials when they take on perennial powerhouse Subiaco at Leederville Oval on Saturday.

The Eagles currently sit seventh on the ladder, however a win on Saturday could put them back in the top-five heading into the final month of the season. 

It’s been another dominant year for the Lions, who sit on top of the ladder with a 12-1 record, their only loss coming to South Fremantle in round six.

Kyal Horsley (27.6 disposals per game) and Lachlan Delahunty (23.2 disposals) have led the way for the Lions’ midfield this season and have stepped up in the recent weeks since losing fellow on-baller Josh Deluca to Carlton during the mid-season rookie draft.

Forwards Ryan Borchet (28 goals), Rhys Waters (23 goals) and Ben Sokol (22 goals) have formed an imposing trio up front, creating one of the more well-rounded and balanced forward lines in the competition.

West Coast will be without indefatigable on-baller Josh Smith, who is set to miss five to seven weeks with a hamstring injury.

Smith has been in stellar-form during the Eagles’ winning streak, averaging 27.5 disposals over the past four games, and leading the team for possessions in each of the last three weeks.

Xavier O’Neill is set to return on Saturday after missing the club’s last two games with a hip injury.

Nathan Vardy will also make his return through the WAFL.

The two sides met back in round three in a tight encounter that saw the Lions kick the last three goals of the game to win by 15 points.
