Plenty of people reckon West Coast could be up against it at Metricon Stadium tonight.

Not only are the Eagles playing reigning premiers Richmond, but they’re doing it off a four-day break, one of which was almost entirely taken up by travel from Western Australia to Queensland.

Experts far and wide say it’s too big a task, but Elliot Yeo disagrees.

The two-time John Worsfold medallist said his teammates would take the travel and short turnaround in their stride – just like they have for the past 33 seasons.

“I have faith they’ll handle it,” Yeo told 96FM’s Botica’s Bunch programme this morning.

“There is no real difference in terms of what we do in previous seasons. We’d get over there two days before and pretty much unpack everything, play and come back home. There is nothing different at all, it’s just that we are staying a little bit longer.

“I’ve got every confidence that they’ll get the job done tonight and I’m looking forward to watching it.”

Yeo, who did not travel with the team on Tuesday after picking up a sinus issue earlier this week, said he was particularly excited to see emerging big man Bailey Williams make his debut in blue and gold.

Williams comes into the starting 22 to replace Oscar Allen, who incurred a hip injury during West Coast’s round 13 win over Greater Western Sydney.

“Bailey is probably a ruck-forward who has got an extreme amount of talent,” Yeo said.

“I’m looking forward to watching him play. He’s got a seriously good leap on him as well, so you might see him taking a few dukes up in the forward line and getting in JK’s way.

“He’s a good fella and he’s a super competitive bloke.”

Yeo was also excited to learn about West Coast’s recent membership milestone, which has the club less than 500 members shy of reaching the coveted 100,000 mark.

The dual all-Australian said it was an incredible feat for the organisation and reiterated that he loved playing in front of the club’s passionate fans.

“It’s pretty impressive and we’ve got the best fans as well. If we can get to 100,000 that’d be great,” Yeo said.

“But all 99,000 of them, they’re amazing and we love playing in front of them. To be able to have those six or seven games … playing in front of them, it was amazing.

“The atmosphere they create for us certainly gets us up in close games as well.

“We love our fans and the more that we can get the better.”
