When it comes to living your dream, Dom Sheed knows a thing or two.
And the 2018 Grand Final hero has some advice to youngsters chasing their own goals in life.
Speaking to the KidsQ podcast, Sheed answered questions from students from Kalgoorlie Primary School, and detailed his journey from Auskick to Subiaco and joining the Eagles.
“Anyone with a goal or a dream I think you’ve got to set in place a plan of how you’re going to reach that goal, what you’re going to do to get there, and it starts with making sacrifices,” Sheed said.
“You’ve got to love what you’re doing and, most importantly, I think that you’ve got to enjoy the journey along the way.
“Because if you’re not loving what you’re doing, then you’re not going to be successful.
“Whatever you do, whether it’s ups or downs – you’re definitely going to have downs, everything is not always great – but as long as along the way you can enjoy the journey.”
Also in the episode, Sheed discussed his childhood idols, dealing with the COVID-19-impacted season, stamping out racism through education and, of course, his famous Grand Final goal.
