Where and when: Optus Stadium. Sunday, August 16 (4.10pm AWST)

TV: Live on 7mate, Fox Footy, Kayo and the official AFL app

What it means for the Eagles: West Coast will be looking to shore up their spot in the top four with a win against Hawthorn on Sunday. A victory over the Hawks would also exorcise some of the demons from the club’s disappointing showing against Alastair Clarkson’s men in round 23 last year.

The stat: West Coast and Hawthorn have split their last six encounters, winning three games each. The Eagles’ average winning margin against the Hawks in those matches is 15.3 points, but when Alastair Clarkson’s men have prevailed its been to the average tune of 44.6 points.

The match-up: Brad Sheppard v Luke Breust

Sheppard is probably still buzzing after booting his first goal in three years against the Blues, but West Coast will need him at his best down back to take care of the dangerous Breust on Sunday. The livewire Hawk dined out against the Eagles in round 23 last year, kicking four goals, and was Hawthorn’s only multiple goal kicker (two majors) against Fremantle last week. Fortunately Sheppard is in red hot form and in a great position to take on Breust.

It’s a big week for: Nic Reid

The 24-year-old school teacher gets his first crack at the big time following an interesting journey to the top. He was plucked from the amateur ranks to represent West Coast’s inaugural WAFL team, kicked a team-high 23 goals for the year and won his way onto the Eagles’ senior list via the Supplementary Selection Period. It will be a memorable occasion for the North Beach product and we cannot wait to see how he goes against the Hawks.
