Onball bull Elliot Yeo reckons West Coast will know exactly where they sit in the premiership pecking order after locking horns with Collingwood at Optus Stadium on Sunday.

The Magpies have been in red hot form this year and currently sit at third place on the AFL ladder after recording four wins, two losses and a draw from their seven outings this season.

They have been, in many respects, the Eagles’ fiercest rival in recent years, especially since playing what is widely considered the best match of the past 50 years in the 2018 Grand Final.

West Coast was on a four-game winning streak against Collingwood since Round 17, 2018, but the Pies snapped their drought against the Eagles with a one-point win the last time the two sides met in Round 17, 2019.

Yeo said that loss was still fresh in his mind.

“It was a pretty tough game the last one and they just pipped us,” he told 96FM’s breakfast team this morning.

“In the last quarter they were able to keep it in their forward line and we weren’t able to get our ball movement going.

“We’re definitely looking to get a win, especially against Collingwood. They’re playing some really good football at the moment, so it will be a good test to see where we are at.”

Fortunately the Eagles are coming into the blockbuster game with form, having defeated crosstown rivals Fremantle by 30 points in Sunday’s RAC Derby.

Yeo was a standout performer against the Dockers.

He racked up 20 disposals, seven clearances, six tackles and a game-high 14 contested possessions to lead the Eagles to their 10th- straight RAC Derby win.

While he was pleased to turn in another solid performance, Yeo was especially happy to see the team prevail on the same day that club icon Josh Kennedy celebrated his 250th AFL game.

“Generally we have a thing when players have milestone games that they come around and we don’t generally get up, so we don’t get to throw the Gatorade or Powerade at them in the middle,” he said.

“I was glad that we won one and Joshy was able to get a little bit. He didn’t want to get too wet, so the boys sort of looked after him.

“A few Powerade bottles got thrown at him at the end of the game, which was good fun.”
