Eagles hit the beach for SIDS
The inaugural Sunshine Beach Run raised over $80,000 for SIDS and Kids WA
The event, which aimed to assist those who have been tragically affected by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, was an initiative of West Coast Eagles physiotherapist Chris Perkin in memory of his unborn baby Jake and wife Cindy who passed away in 2009.
The day raised more than $80,000 for SIDS & Kids WA, all thanks to the generosity of Western Australians.
The entire West Coast Eagles squad came along to support Perkin and this worthy cause, as well as cheer on event participants, run activities, sign autographs and have photos with fans.

West Coast defender Sam Butler said the event was amazing to be part of and hopes to continue to be involved.
“It’s great to be down here, to walk down and see the sea of red and everyone in their SIDS & Kids shirts, it’s a great sight to see,” he said.
“To get so many people here in the event’s first year is fantastic. Hopefully it doubles every year and we keep getting more and more people.
“Chris is a great man and a much-loved member of the West Coast Eagles. To go through such hard times and still press on at the club really shows what a great man he is.
“He puts in so much effort, he works full-time at his practice, part-time at West Coast, he’s got two young boys, and he’s organising something like this for SIDS & Kids with that kind of schedule. Every single player wanted to come down and help him out today.”
The West Coast Eagles Football Club would like to thank everyone who was involved and took part in the SIDS & Kids Sunshine Beach Run.
