The West Coast Eagles and the Cancer Council Western Australia have teamed up again in 2010 to launch the annual Dig Deep campaign in the fight against cancer.
The campaign, which is the club’s biggest fundraising initiative for the Cancer Council WA, will run from the beginning of June through until July 10 when the Eagles take on Adelaide in the round 15 Saturday afternoon clash at Subiaco Oval.
Since 2005, each season a West Coast home fixture has been dedicated to raising funds for this worthy campaign, with this year’s clash against the Crows dubbed the official ‘Dig Deep Day’. During this match, players, staff and volunteers will be out in force selling the 2010 Dig Deep wristbands, helping to raise funds and awareness of the valuable work Cancer Council WA does in the fight against one of our nation’s biggest killers.
The $3 2010 Dig Deep wristbands, a fourth edition to the highly sought after 2005, 2006 and 2009 versions, will be on sale for the duration of the six-week campaign and are available from campaign distribution partners Caltex, SGIO, NAB, Toyota WA and Medibank at outlets across WA, as well as the Eagles Team Store. All proceeds raised will go towards funding important cancer research projects, providing education on cancer prevention and supporting people with cancer and their families.
West Coast’s Cancer Council WA ambassador Beau Waters urged everyone to get behind the campaign and purchase a wristband.
‘The wristbands are a fantastic way for fans to show their support for the team and the fight against cancer.
‘The club and the players are very proud to be associated with the Cancer Council Western Australia and to support the great work they do in our community,’ Waters said.
Since 2005, the West Coast Eagles have helped raise over $500,000 for the Cancer Council WA and hope to raise another $100,000 during this year’s campaign.
