The relationship between the West Coast Eagles and the Whittlesea Eagles was further forged last week when tough half-back Beau Waters was involved in the club’s training session on Thursday night.
Whittlesea, one of many communities devastated by the bushfires earlier this year, gratefully accepted a set of guernseys donated by West Coast during the pre-season and Waters was the star attraction at training on Thursday.
Waters made the trip with Communications Manager Gary Stocks and Melbourne office recruiting co-cordinator Rohan O’Brien.
Despite persistent rain, Waters’ enthusiasm for the task was not dampened and he enjoyed the interaction with the players and coaches.
The star half-back, out for the season with an elbow injury, had travelled to Whittlesea via Sydney, where he had been to a see a specialist who checked the progress of elbow surgery and gave it the thumbs up.
Waters was a fantastic ambassador for the club and presented president Steve Crocker and coach Peter Bugden with a signed guernsey and football on behalf of the club, which will be used for fund-raising purposes.
