Before they headed off for the long trip to Tasmania to take on the Kangaroos, the West Coast Eagles dropped by the Country Week football carnival this week to spend some time with WA’s future football stars.
The entire squad headed to Perth’s McGillivray Oval where they were met by more than 1,000 students who had all made the trip to the city from various regional towns across WA.
The team divided and conquered, splitting up to run different drills and discussions with students and share their footy advice.
Originally hailing from Dampier, a town 16 hours from Perth, Dean Cox admitted to how much he enjoyed the Country Week carnival as a kid.
“I used to love coming down to these carnivals,” the five-time All Australian ruckman said.
“I got to come along in years 10, 11 and 12. It was one of the best weeks of school, coming down to Perth with all your friends.
“I think this is one of the best visits we as a team take part in. It’s is a really enjoyable one, to come down to see the kids,” Cox added.
