Well here we are at round six, and still sitting at the top of the ladder. Great work by the boys! Last week against Richmond was another intense match. The boys seem to be turning these nail-biting matches into a bit of a habit… At least they’re keeping us spectators on our toes. Or giving us heart attacks. Either way, those of us at the match are definitely getting our money’s worth.
So who gets massive props for their performance last weekend? Firstly, Daniel Kerr and Matty Priddis, what solid performances from two of our senior players. These guys are definitely proving that they have not lost their touch.
Getting a special mention for his goals is Jack Darling, as is Josh Hill, who is quickly proving what an asset he is to the West Coast forward line. And Beau Waters for that insane mark. What a superstar.
But of course, the biggest round of applause goes to Josh Kennedy for coming back on the ground after he injured his ankle. What devastating news that was this week, learning that we’re losing JK for a while. Yes, he is a goal-kicking machine. And yes, this does mean that our three leading goal-kickers from last year are all out with injuries. But let’s not panic, because I’m going to lay down some truth for you all.
Woosh said himself this week that the current West Coast squad has great depth. And guys, there’s a reason Woosh is senior coach - it’s because he’s never wrong. So when he says we have talent to fill up our forward line and make up for the goals we’re missing with LeCras, Nicoski and Kennedy gone (its 147 by the way), well I believe him.
We’ve also lost star defender Will Schofield for two weeks, as well as Mitch Brown for a while due to an eye injury. So guys, I’m gonna say it, this weekend is gonna be tough. The boys will need you more than ever, supporting them and cheering them on to victory. But I still think we’re going to be ok. Do you know why? Because we are a team of champions.
Just like my good friend Billy Ocean said, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. And the West Coast Eagles are tough. We are Eagle tough. And a few injuries aren’t going to dishearten us and stop us from winning.
So beware Kangaroos! We’ve got some pent-up anger about our horrible injury run at the moment, and we’re ready to take it out on you.

See you all at the game.
