Wednesday June 10 will mark the fifth occasion the West Coast Eagles and the Kicking Goals program have visited Port Hedland this year and with hard nut Beau Waters in tow, this visit is sure to impress.

The injured Waters will join the staff from the Kicking Goals program and legend of the game, Peter Matera from the Swan Districts Football Club, to promote positive life choices and building a healthy community through football.

The morning will commence with primary school visits, and highlight issues surrounding values education. Later staff from the Kicking Goals program will attend Hedland Senior High School to see how the students’ attendance and quality of school work has progressed from their last visit. Waters and the Kicking Goals team will then attend the After School Homework Centre.

The day will conclude with all staff visiting Kalarra to catch up with some of the senior residents of the Port Hedland area. These visits are always warmly received as they claim to consist of the Eagles’ ‘biggest fans’.

Kicking Goals is a joint initiative run by the West Coast Eagles and Swan Districts and proudly sponsored by BHP Billiton Iron Ore, which monitors the progress of students in all aspects of their school life by positively influencing their lives through football.

Three students will be rewarded with the trip of a lifetime to the MCG in Melbourne to watch some of the best AFL fixtures over four days in August
The Kicking Goals program makes regular trips to the Pilbara each year and allows the players to reach out to the people of communities who would normally never get to have these experiences.

Special thanks must also go to Rod Willet and his Kicks4Kidz program which runs in conjunction with Kicking Goals. This program donates sporting goods to less fortunate communities. These items have been donated by various football and netball sporting clubs.
