West Coast fans have got behind Schoey's beard shave in spectacular fashion, already raising more than $5,000 for Cancer Council WA. But with still three days to go until Me No Hair, Will is asking you all to keep going and see if we can hit the 10k mark for cancer research.

It’s the moment the whole football world has been waiting for. Or dreading. Depending on how one feels about extremely excessive facial hair.

But the rumours are indeed true - West Coast defender Will Schofield has decided to shave off his beard, all in the name of charity.

With club charity partner Cancer Council WA launching their Me No Hair campaign next week, Schofield has put the word out to West Coast fans that he will shave off his beard if they get behind the cause and raise $5,000 for cancer research.

West Coast fans hit this target within a few days, but with still three days to go until Me No Hair, Schofield wants West Coast fans to continue donating to see if they can hit the $10,000 mark for Cancer Council WA.

"I didn't think people wanted to see my beard gone that badly, that we'd hit 5k within only a few days," Schofield said.

"Apparently people really don't want to see it anymore.

“But it’s time. My beard and I have shared some special moments. It’s been the subject of much scrutiny, admiration, and probably quite a bit of jealousy as well.

“But I can’t go on looking like a god forever. It’s not fair to other men.

“I won’t be able to shave it myself, that would be way too emotional for me. I don't think I would physically be able to lift the razor to my beard.

"I’m going to have to get someone else to do it. So I’ll be deciding which one of my wonderful teammates gets the honour and privilege of shaving off my beard. They’ll probably be fighting eachother over it.

“But in all seriousness, it’s been almost 12 months so it’s time. And with Me No Hair happening next week, what better opportunity to do it and raise some money at the same time.

“Cancer Council WA have been a charity partner of the club for more than five years, the work they do is unbelievable and I’m glad to be able to help them out in some way.

“We've already raised 5k which is just fantastic – but let's raise more. Let's see if we can hit 10. West Coast fans, people of Perth, get behind this great cause and donate to see me get my beard shaved off.

“We’ll be documenting the whole journey exclusively on Eagle Vision over the next couple of weeks as well, so make sure you’re tuning in.”
