Emerging West Coast Eagles midfielder Chris Masten received positive news today, but will still be unavailable for the club’s next couple of matches.
Masten, who would be high in the Club Champion voting to this point of the season, was subbed out of yesterday’s game against the Western Bulldogs after having his ankle trapped under young midfielder Mitch Wallis.
Masten left the ground on crutches and today had an x-ray which cleared him of any fracture.
He will now have further scans to reveal the true extent of the injury, but the club is hopeful that it a severe sprain, rather than anything more serious.
Forward Mark LeCras will be monitored on a daily basis because of a foot injury, but is unlikely to play in either of the next two games.
Ruckman Nic Naitanui will be rested indefinitely, will almost certainly miss this week’s clash with the Gold Coast and the medical team will assess his prospects each week.
Captain Darren Glass should be available this week, along with midfielder Matt Rosa who was sidelined with a back injury last weekend.
Star on-baller Daniel Kerr will also be assessed during the week to see if he has recovered from a knee injury which prevented him from playing at the weekend.
