Inside word:

Kane featured in 42 games for the Blues after five injury-interrupted years.

The No.12 pick in the 2009 draft tore his hamstring twice in his first season after playing the first eight games.

He won Carlton's best first-year player award in 2010, but he battled to string together games in the following years after a medial ligament injury in the VFL and hip and back niggles.

Kane featured in five of the Blues' first seven games this year before being dropped after the round seven loss to Collingwood.

Adam Simpson publicly declared Kane was "on his radar" at the beginning of the pre-season campaign, and the former Blue met with Eagles officials in mid-November to undergo a medical assessment.

The Western Australian product returns to his home state after being rookie-listed by the West Coast Eagles.

Full draft coverage

Craig Vozzo says:

The addition of Kane complements the group of players we secured through the national draft. We drafted five 18-year-olds in the draft and we felt we needed to add a mature player to our squad as well. Kane is a 23-year-old who has played 42 games at the level and he also has good pace. Given a second opportunity in his home town, we believe he can flourish in that environment.
