The West Coast Eagles, already excited at the prospect of seeing Jack Redden, Lewis Jetta and Jonathan Giles in the blue and gold in 2016, have also improved their National Draft position on the last day of the trade period.
The Eagles have traded their second round selection (pick 36) and the compensation selection they received for losing restricted free agent Scott Selwood to Geelong (pick 37) to Sydney for selection 23 in the draft.
That means West Coast will go into next month’s player ballot with selections 23, 31 and 62 – today’s deal providing the icing on the trade period cake.
“In this exchange period we’ve been able to secure Jack Redden, Lewis Jetta, Jonathan Giles and picks 23, 31 and 62 which we feel is a very good outcome for the club,” General Manager – Football, Craig Vozzo said.
“Having access to two selections in the first 31 picks will give us the opportunity to add further exciting young talent to our list.
“We believe Jack, Lewis and Jonathan will all add significant upside to our squad, but aside from bringing football attributes that will enhance the skill set in our group, they are also quality people and we look forward to them moving to Perth and preparing for our 2016 campaign.”
