The West Coast Eagles have today agreed to release experienced midfielder Matt Rosa to the Gold Coast Suns in exchange for selection 31 in the National Draft.

Although contracted to the club for next season Rosa in formed West Coast last week that he would like to be traded.

While disappointed with Rosa’s position Craig Vozzo, General Manager – Football and other key figures at the club decided it was in the club’s best interests to release the veteran who earlier this month played in the Grand Final against Hawthorn.

“We were surprised and disappointed that Matt decided he wanted to pursue his career elsewhere,” Vozzo said. “We spoke to Matt about the situation, but in the end made what we consider to be the best decision for the football club.

“Selection 31 in the National Draft will give us access to a talented youngster and we look forward to continuing to build our list. We would also acknowledge the outstanding service that Matt gave our club for more than a decade.”
