Dual West Coast club champion Elliot Yeo and gun defender Brad Sheppard have been named to represent the All Stars in the upcoming clash with Victoria to raise funds for bushfire relief.
Many of the AFL’s biggest names have been picked for the clash at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on Friday, February 28.
The Eagles stars will join the likes of Jack Riewoldt, Nat Fyfe, Brodie Grundy, Patrick Cripps, Stephen Coniglio and Charlie Cameron in the All Stars team.
Yeo has been named at ruck rover and Sheppard will line up in a back pocket.
Sydney mentor John Longmire will coach the side, which will have eight representatives from Western Australian playing - the most of any state.
Victoria’s squad is headlined by Dustin Martin, Patrick Dangerfield, Jeremy Cameron, Trent Cotchin, Scott Pendlebury and Marcus Bontempelli.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick will lead the team.
In addition to hosting the charitable All Stars clash, the AFL ($1.35m) – in association with clubs ($900,000) and AFL Players Association ($250,000) – committed a $2.5 million donation.
West Coast ran an online auction after players donated items to raise further funds for the Red Cross, and ticket sales from the AFLW’s historic RAC Derby – attended by 35,185 fans - last Saturday were added to the contribution.
The Eagles agreed to shift their Marsh Community Series match against Essendon to avoid clashing with the All Stars game, with that pre-season game now scheduled for Thursday, February 27 at 4.40pm.
