West Coast’s inaugural AFLW team will be wearing plenty of numbers made famous by club legends when they take the field in 2020.
Defender Brianna Green will wear arguably the club’s most famous number, No.3, which was worn by dual premiership player Chris Mainwaring; 2004 Brownlow medallist and 2006 premiership captain Chris Judd; and two-time all-Australian midfielder Andrew Gaff.
The club’s first official AFLW singing Mikayla Bowen will fittingly wear the No.1 guernsey, while experienced campaigner Ashlee Atkins has secured the club’s revered No.9 jumper, which has belonged to AFL stars Peter Wilson, Ben Cousins and Nic Naitanui.
Captain Emma Swanson and vice-captain Dana Hooker will wear No.13 and No.17 respectively, while the club’s first selection in the 2019 AFLW Draft, Imahra Cameron, will have No.19 on her back in season 2020.
Hayley Bullas (No.24) and Parris Laurie (No.25) have snapped up numbers worn by premiership captains John Worsfold and Shannon Hurn.
Danika Pisconeri got her hands on No.11, made famous by distinguished Eagles Ashley McIntosh and Matt Priddis, and lifelong Eagles fan Kate Bartlett was quick to select No.20, which club AFL games record holder Dean Cox wore on 290 occasions.
Former VFLW Hawks turned Eagles Talia Radan (No.26) and Chantella Perera (No.27) will be locker room neighbours, while Irish sister act Niamh and Grace Kelly will wear No.12 and No.15 respectively.
