West Coast is helping the club’s senior members become tech-savvy, one computer at a time.
Ten senior Eagles members have spent the past six weeks learning the basics of computers in the club’s second Tech-Savvy Seniors Introduction to Technology course held at Domain Stadium.
As part of a series of senior events run in conjunction with the Seniors Recreation Council of WA, senior members were invited to participate in the course, which is designed to introduce seniors to the benefits of modern technology.

Participants were taught the basics of email, Skype, social media and cyber-security, as well as how to utilise the club’s website and membership portal by a qualified IT professional from the SRCWA.
Participant Ian Wells commended the presenters and other attendees for making the experience so enjoyable.
“It was a good introduction to computers and the internet, also general usage (and secrets) on using the computer,” Mr Wells said.
At the completion of the six-week course, the attendees were taken on a tour of the club’s inner sanctum, including the players’ lounge, warm-up room and gym facilities.
The program is run as part of a partnership with the SRCWA which was forged in 2014. Now in its second year, the club is expanding its seniors program with an Eagles in Their Prime Seniors Activity Morning held earlier this month, as well as a Grandparents’ Day and second Tech-Savvy Seniors course scheduled for the second half of the year.
This initiative would not be possible without the equipment and support provided by the Seniors Recreation Council of WA, a predominately volunteer-run organisation that receives core funding support from the Department for Sport and Recreation and the Department for Local Government and Communities.
