Community Camp - day two
After a late night spent with more than 500 fans at a Community Camp dinner, the West Coast Eagles were up early on day two of their trip to Northam.
The players and coaches split up to cover more ground, visiting Northam District Hospital, Bethavon Aged Care, The Residency Aged Care, Killara Respite Centre and Bakers Hill Primary School.
The public were also treated to a handful of special appearances at Bankwest, Toyota and Australia Post, where the players stopped for photos and autographs with regional fans.
As an AFL Multicultural Ambassador, Nic Naitanui headed to Australia Post to promote the work of Boots For All, an initiative by the AFL and Australia Post.
Boots For All encourages the local community to donate their quality, second hand football boots and equipment through their local post office, to be distributed to teams across Australia who are socially or geographically disadvantaged.
“The more equipment we receive, the more kids that can benefit, so if you have any pre-loved footy boots or jumpers in good condition, it’s easy to donate them to your local Australia Post retail outlet,” Naitanui said.
West Coast CEO Trevor Nisbett, along with Football Manager Neale Daniher, also made the trip up to Northam on Friday morning to attend a Business Leaders Breakfast at the Northam Country Club.
“This was a great chance for us to sit down with members of the Northam community,” Nisbett said.
“As always with our Community Camps, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to engage with our fans and make players available to people of rural WA.
“We recognise and value the great support we get from country regions. We have fans all over WA, not just in Perth, so this week has been a fantastic opportunity to meet some of our regional fan base.
“We have a particular link with the Northam region through our captain, Darren Glass, a fantastic ambassador for the area he grew up in.
“The Northam community has been outstanding and we thank them for having us this week.”
