More than 200 of the club’s dedicated Rick’s Rookies members joined West Coast Eagles players at Bounce in Cannington for Rick the Rock’s annual birthday party last Friday.
Rick received a rock star welcome from our primary school-aged members, who sung him happy birthday with gusto before hitting the trampolines.
In between games of dodge ball, basketball and trampolining, Rick took the time to judge a lip sync battle between two of our members, with the winner taking home a team-signed guernsey.
Those who helped Rick celebrate his birthday were also treated to a special preview of the brand new X-Park Adventure Challenge course at Bounce, which only opened to the public this week.
After a lot of bouncing, running and dodging, it was time to welcome the 2017 West Coast Eagles team, who were fresh from their afternoon training session.
The players were excited to meet all of the Rookie members, and with the signing session wrapping up a little earlier than usual, they couldn’t wait to get out there and have a bit of fun with the kids.
As has been the case in previous years, there was a mad scramble by both players and Rookies alike to join in on the players versus members dodgeball match.
After a solid jump around and a very competitive game of limbo against the birthday boy himself, it was time for the players to head off and for everyone to wish Rick one final happy birthday.
The club would like to extend a big thank you to all of our Rick’s Rookie members for attending and to those members who donated presents to Path of Hope, who provide refuge to women and children suffering from domestic violence.
We wish all of our Rookie members a safe and happy holidays and look forward to seeing them all again in 2017.
