The Motor Neurone Disease Association of WA has an extra $22,000 to spend on research and patient support thanks to the efforts of the West Coast Eagles’ Drive for MND team.
West Coast chief financial officer Amanda Cox, people and risk coordinator Claire Santoro, accounts assistant Brittany Lamb and community and partnerships coordinator Jessica van Beijnum raised close to $4000 before completing MNDAWA’s Drive for MND Coral Coast Adventure.
But a quiz night coordinated by the charitable quartet proved to be the biggest fundraising coup for the group.
More than 200 people flocked to Domain Stadium on November 23 to participate in the quiz, which also featured a raffle and silent auction. All proceeds were donated to MNDAWA.
Cox said she was taken aback upon learning the quiz night raised more than $18,000.
“The support we received was incredible. 200 people attended and we raised a staggering $18,150 through everyone digging deep and bidding on our swag of amazing donated products, vouchers and services,” Cox said.
“It was a fun night for a great cause.”
The Drive for MND is one of many charitable events held throughout the year to raise funds for MNDAWA, which is committed to providing specialised care and support services for people living with MND, their carers and families in Western Australia.
MNDAWA also provides education and support groups through its ‘You, Me and MND Program’, equipment, wheelchair accessible transport and specialised funding.
As part its mission, MNDAWA advocates for people living with MND to ensure they receive the best possible care and services, as well as contributing to MND research to achieve its vision of living in a world free from MND.
