Influential midfielder Josh Smith and developing defender Brodie Riach are in the mix to face the Falcons following lengthy injury layoffs, while hard-nosed onballer Brayden Ainsworth could also return after missing last week’s win over East Fremantle.
Forwards Patrick Bines and Kieran Hug are also in the running for a recall to the state-league side.
Both Smith and Riach have missed the last six games.
Ironically, their last outings were against West Perth in round 14.
Smith injured a hamstring during that contest at Mineral Resources Park, while Riach presented with soreness after the match that was later diagnosed as a stress fracture in his fibular.
Ainsworth missed the finals-securing victory over the Sharks due to hamstring awareness.
While there’s the potential for five big ins, the WAFL Eagles will be without its leading goal kicker Nic Reid and veteran backman Will Schofield on Sunday.
Reid has been ruled out of the game after being concussed in the opening quarter of the bout against East Fremantle, while Schofield has been held over for the AFL side’s impending stoush with Essendon.
The WAFL Eagles and Falcons will lock horns at Joondalup Arena from 2.40pm on Sunday.
The game will be broadcast live on Channel 7 from 2.30pm.
